Mobilizing the community, to design a support ecosystem adapted to women who are victims of domestic violence and have suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Full title: Mobilizing the community, socio-legal and health-rehabilitation sectors to design a support ecosystem adapted to women who are victims of domestic violence and have suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Description

Up to 75% of women victims of domestic violence (DV) of a physical nature have suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Most go undiagnosed and untreated, yet must live with the effects of these brain injuries, which can affect their independence, their ability to hold down a job or care for their children.

To address the pressing need for tailored support for this vulnerable population, the project will mobilize all stakeholders involved in helping VVC women in a large urban area, including community, academic and health-rehabilitation settings.

Together, these players will collaborate to produce the roadmap for an ecosystem of cross-sector services dedicated to supporting VVC women with CCT.

This initiative is in line with the Quebec government’s policies to increase accessibility to health and support services for VVC.
