Inclusive Society Funding Opportunity 2026

The Intersectoral Participatory Research Program of Inclusive Society offers funding of up to $35,000, including a minimum of $10,000 for the main partner organization.

WHAT WE FUND: Project proposals developed from a need or issue identified by a community organization, aimed at improving the lives of people living with disabilities. This program supports innovative projects that aim to:

  • Bring about concrete changes in the lives of people living with disabilities,
  • Help transform the environments of caregivers, community organizations, and public institutions,
  • Implement solutions to reduce environmental and social barriers faced by people living with disabilities in their daily lives.

Project eligibility criteria – summary

To be eligible, a project must meet all of the following criteria.

Align with Inclusive Society themes:
physical environment and mobility, social environment, health and adaptation-rehabilitation, attitudes, prejudice, and discrimination.

Respond to a real need expressed by a community organization:
the project must be co-developed with a nonprofit partner and aim for concrete outcomes.

Contribute to improving the lives of people living with disabilities,
particularly by reducing environmental and social barriers.

Meet team composition requirements:
at least one of the principal co-researchers must hold a status compliant with Fonds de recherche du Québec criteria and be affiliated with a research center, network, or group partnered with Inclusive Society.

Include a person with lived experience, actively participating in the project.

Individuals interested in submitting a project proposal may, if desired, receive support from an Inclusive Society intersectoral liaison officer to connect with research teams or partner organizations.

Frequently asked questions

The partner must be a nonprofit organization, but it is not mandatory to have a charity number.

The CIUSS can be a partner, but not the main partner in the application. The main partner receiving the funds must be a non-profit organization.

The partner organization or researchers based outside Quebec must partner with a research team and a partner organization in Quebec that will assume responsibility for the project and manage the budget. The partner organization and researchers based outside Quebec would not be eligible to receive funding. The principal investigators for the project must have a profile as defined by the Fonds de Recherche du Québec. Definition.

Yes, if people with disabilities are actively involved in the project, particularly as part of the research team. However, it is still recommended that another partner organization working in the field of disability be involved in the project.

No. It is not possible to participate in the main team for one project and as another partner for a second project, for example.

Société inclusive’s intersectoral coordination officer (ACI) can provide support in developing the project and partnership. This may involve, for example, putting the team in touch with partner organizations or researchers, reminding them of the intersectoral criteria, or reviewing the project to ensure that it meets the eligibility criteria.
