Société inclusive 2024 financing opportunity

WHAT WE FUND: Project proposals developed from a need or issues targeted by a community organization, and not through research theorizing, to improve the lives of people with disabilities.
This program will support innovative projects that aim to :
- Bring about concrete changes in the lives of people with disabilities
- Help transform the environments of caregivers, community organizations and public agencies
- Implement solutions to reduce the environmental and social barriers faced by people with disabilities in their daily lives.
The main partner must be a non-profit organization (NPO) whose mission concerns people with disabilities.
The research team must include two principal investigators*, each representing a different scientific sector.
The project must cover at least two of the following three sectors:
- Nature and technology
- Health
- Society and culture

The results will be announced in January 2025.
Some definitions
Intersectorality: A research and collaboration approach that brings together researchers from two or more disciplines or research practices on a common research object, problem, issue, method or question, in order to shed new light on common or shared issues.

Frequently asked questions
Does the main partner have to have a charity number?
The partner must be an NPO but it is not mandatory to have a charity number.
Can a CIUSSS be a partner?
The CIUSSS can be a partner but not the main partner of the application. The main partner receiving the funds must be an NPO.
Is it possible to apply for a continuation of a project that has already been funded?
Yes, it is possible
Can a partner or researchers based outside of Quebec respond to this call for proposals?
The partner or researcher based outside of Quebec would have to be associated with a team and a partner in Quebec who would assume responsibility for the project and manage the budget. The partner or researcher based outside of Quebec would not be eligible to receive funding. The principal investigators of the project must have a profile as defined by the Fonds de Recherche du Québec. Definition p.5
Can the NPO, the main partner of the project, not be in the field of disability?
Yes, if people with disabilities are actively involved in the project, in particular by being part of the research team. It is nevertheless recommended to involve in the project another partner who is in the field of disability.
Is it possible for a researcher to submit two projects?
Yes, it is possible to submit two applications, but the projects presented must be different. Please note that the evaluation committee may reserve the right to favor the diversity of the themes supported.
Can a non-profit organization submit two different projects as a principal partner? And receive funding for two projects?
Yes, it is possible.
Can a non-profit organization participate in one project as a lead partner and another project as a partner?
Yes, it is possible.
What role can Inclusive Society’s facilitator (ACI) play in the preparation of the application?
Inclusive Society’s facilitator (ACI) can provide support in developing the project and the partnership. For example, it can put the team in contact with partners or researchers, remind them of the intersectorality criteria, or review the project’s compliance with the eligibility criteria.
