Body in Care, Body on Stage: An Intersectoral Approach to Chronic Pain

This project brings together people living with chronic pain, artists, clinicians, and researchers in the health sciences and humanities. It aims to place artistic practices and the humanities at the heart of a system in which experiments will be carried out and shared, in close collaboration with the people concerned, in order to facilitate the expression of chronic pain for people living with chronic pain, and the understanding of this reality for their relatives, friends and clinicians.

The objective is threefold:

1) to set up a permanent series of workshops to encourage the expression of one’s experience by the person suffering from chronic pain and to create the conditions for the training of expert facilitators;
2) to create a show intended for the general public, in order to make visible this often invisible reality that is chronic pain and to initiate the debate in a perspective of modification of perceptions and recognition of this condition;
3) to produce a series of video vignettes that accompany the project team throughout the process and that report to the public on the impact of the “Arts-Health Sciences” research-creation-intervention dynamic for the community of people living with chronic pain.
